A fresh drum is required the first time because your printer's original drum is already contaminated with regular, non-magnetic toner, which would weaken the MICR signal.
- Toner only (reorder) — On every reorder you need only the toner. The MICR imaging drum lasts about 65,000 pages — roughly 3 toner cartridges at this cartridge's 25,000-page yield — so one drum carries you through many toner refills before it needs replacing.
