• Toner + Drum (first-time setup) — Your first MICR conversion includes both the MICR toner cartridge and a separate MICR imaging drum (two separate units). A fresh drum is required the first time because your printer's original drum is already contaminated with regular, non-magnetic toner, which would weaken the MICR signal.
• Toner only (reorder) — On every reorder you need only the toner. The MICR imaging drum lasts about 40,000 pages — roughly 8 toner cartridges at this cartridge's 5,000-page yield — so one drum carries you through many toner refills before it needs replacing.
